PWN: Faux news, discerning the truth from fiction in the news

RevKess and Zaracon freely admit that the Pagan Weekly News is not part of any recognized mainstream news service.  They do however endeavor to provide as accurate of information as they can during their broadcasts, often fact checking before, during, and after each broadcast to make sure that their information is correct. That said, PWN has earned a reputation in the Pagan world as a source for news.

Beginning the show with updates on the Marion Zimmer Bradley scandal and the discrimination issues Seekers Temple is facing in Beebe, AR (pt. 1, pt. 2), they moved to other cases of religious discrimination and separation of church and state in the United States. In the second hour Zaracon had to excuse himself for health reasons. RevKess moved into a discussion of how to discern truth from fiction in the news media.

MysteriesOfHeavenIt was another one of those lovely tracking weeks at KZUM. Not that big of a deal, after having done it for so long. Still a bit of a headache as we have to get start and finish times, record labels and the like. Oh, well. Makes it a bit more of a challenge and quite educational.

Phil cut’n’pasted the Artist, Track, and CD  Title frames from the spread sheet he used, so things look a little different. We hope that you can still figure everything out okay. The format is the same as usual, just not numbered.

Musica Pagani #9: A day early

Due to some scheduling issues and RevKess getting deep into research, Musica Pagani aired a day early. Saturdays are the usual day for the Pagan-Musings Podcast with KaliSara and RevKess. RevKess has to work and KaliSara has dived deep into her writing projects. So, Musica Pagani comes to you a day early. Hope that you enjoy!

The format is a little bit different for this evening’s broadcast as well. Managing to squeeze the show into just over two hours, RevKess brings you a selection of New Age and Pagan music, but with a different twist. 1-2 tracks per artists instead of three, and a story thrown in their for a little bit of extra fun. As all the programming on the Pagan-Musings Podcast Channel is constantly evolving, who knows where the next edition will bring you!

Speaking of future editions, before we give you the set list, here’s a sneak peak at what is coming your way in August. On Sunday the 11th, Brian Henke visits with RevKess about his music career, shares some of his inspirations and his music. On the 18th, that Goddess Kiss’d gal from Florida, Mama Gina, joins RevKess on the show to talk about her music and a recent benefit to support a local metaphysical shop that was destroyed in a fire.

At PMPChannel we get several CDs a month plus permission from more artists than we can keep up with during the normal course of shows. A while back RevKess started doing editions of Musica Pagani to showcase those very musicians. KaliSara, Zaracon, Julian and RevKess do their best to give these musicians due time on their shows, but there just isn’t enough time during a news or talk program.

In this first edition of the revised show you hear music from New Age artists like Stephen DeRuby, Anima, Lia Scallon and Dan Kennedy. You also hear from Pagan musicians SJ Tucker, Cernunnos Rising and Tuatha Dea.

Stephen DeRuby‘s newest CD, Awakenings, and the latest from Anima, Light of Aluna, arrived in RevKess’s inbox only days ago. Lia Scallon‘s The Luminous Pearl and Dan Kennedy‘s Intution have been floating around for a little while and have been played on Murphy’s Magic Mess on KZUM. This is their PMPChannel debut.

SJ Tucker did the score to a Pagan themed film called Ember Days and she recently performed in Lincoln, NE. Cernunnos Rising just released their second CD, Urban Druid, and front man George Nicholas and his daughter Katie will be joining KaliSara and RevKess on the 22nd for an edition of Pagan-Musings Podcast. Tuatha Dea just released their third CD, The Tribe, and have been working long and hard with many talented musicians through a new project called The Tribe (Wendy Rule, Damh the Bard, and others have joined up). Tuatha Dea will be joining RevKess and KaliSara on the 29th for Pagan-Musings Podcast.

Mess Play List for 051913

Murf's Blue DragonMichelle from the Red Grail visited Murf, Kate and Phil at the studio this morning. She brought in a lovely little blue dragon statue for Murf. Would seem that the fae had been playing around with Michelle’s figurine collection and knocked the dragon shelf off. The dragon was perfectly up right, but the shelf was on the floor as at an angle. Now the little dragon is sitting at Murf’s home along with all her other dragon friends.

Tune in every Sunday morning to KZUM for Murphy’s Magic Mess, like us Facebook.
