(Editor’s note: We are playing a little catch up with play lists. We apologise for the delays.) The Autumnal Equinox, Mabon, has arrived. The day before the celestial event Murf, *K8, and Phil put this show together for your listening enjoyment.
The picture to the left should be explained. Murf and Phil have been doing the show together for nearly six years. *K8 is the newest addition to the Mess. Often times Phil and Murf find themselves thinking along the same lines for show ideas, tracks to play, sometimes even saying the same things in unison. Sometimes these incidences scare *K8. This particular picture was taken after Phil commented to Murf that on his way into the studio he was thinking that some Lindie Lila would be great for the show, Murf had picked a Lindie Lila track for the show! And then they both spelled something out for *K8 in stereo. After which Phil said to her, “After five years with Murf, you too will starting thinking like us.” Thus, she hid inside her shirt. Going “Turtle” as she called it.

Coming up on 7 October, a Tuesday, Sharon Knight will be performing in Lincoln, NE at the historic Ferguson House. The same location at which SJ Tucker and Betsy Tinney recently appeared. On Sunday 5 October the crew of the Mess will be airing an interview that Phil recorded with Sharon on Wednesday 24 September.
Father’s Day on the Mess was a fun and sometimes confusing mess. The Mama Dragon had two master discs to play from, so Phil found himself bouncing back and forth between the two. Along with those two masters was the collection of new age music for the first half hour and a variety of other selections from the KZUM stacks and the random CDs all three brought with them. The below playlist is courtesy the efforts of *K8, Phil has made any minor corrections that were needed.

Post Star City Pride here in Lincoln, Ne. Phil over slept. He woke up 15 minutes into today’s Mess. Murf and *K8 were doing fine without him, but luckily they called to make sure he was on his way. If for no other reason than to arrive at the studio in time to do Lavender Hill. Even with him being late, he was able to get the whole play list entered into the Facebook notes for Murphy’s Magic Mess and get all situated for the long day at KZUM – he stayed to help engineer a special musical guest for The Wimmins Show.
Saturday was the marriage of two long time KZUM listeners, particularly of the Mess. And recently Murf lost a friend who was an English professor at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Much of today’s show was in dedication to all three of those wonderful people. A bit sad at times, but also a lot of fun at others.
(Playlist formatting note, *K8 enters information in a different order and Phil continued with that after his arrival. The order is Song title, Artist, CD.)

Michelle from the Red Grail visited Murf, Kate and Phil at the studio this morning. She brought in a lovely little blue dragon statue for Murf. Would seem that the fae had been playing around with Michelle’s figurine collection and knocked the dragon shelf off. The dragon was perfectly up right, but the shelf was on the floor as at an angle. Now the little dragon is sitting at Murf’s home along with all her other dragon friends.
Tune in every Sunday morning to KZUM for Murphy’s Magic Mess, like us Facebook.
