Mruphy’s Magic Mess, 28 July 2013

ad bannerMurf, *K8 and Phil bring you two hours of new age and Pagan music every Sunday morning on KZUM in Lincoln, NE from 9am to 11am.

This week seemed to be a little strange with the studio equipment. Players not firing, CDs stopping after only 20 seconds of play. Mercury has gone direct, so it wasn’t an astrological incident. No, we discovered the reason when Murf told us what she had lined up on her master disc for the second hour. Scroll down through the play list and surely you will see what was up, too.

The Music

  1. Inkubus Sukkubus – Wytches’ Chant ’98 – Away with the Faeries
  2. The Pure Heart Ensemble – Remembering the Goal – Bliss of Being
  3. Fiona Joy Hawkins – The Journey – 600 Years in a Moment

Thankfully, Murf always seems to have Dale Bacon’s response to Kenny Klein ready to go, but sometimes Dale’s spirit does like to show his displeasure over the song.

If you were listening or have seen the playlist on our Facebook page, you will note that some corrections to the playlist have been made. There was at least one case of mistaken identity and some typos in the Facebook posting. If you find any errors in this posting, please let us know so we can correct them.

MMM 7/14/13: Transitions

Murf's Blue DragonPost Star City Pride here in Lincoln, Ne. Phil over slept. He woke up 15 minutes into today’s Mess. Murf and *K8 were doing fine without him, but luckily they called to make sure he was on his way. If for no other reason than to arrive at the studio in time to do Lavender Hill. Even with him being late, he was able to get the whole play list entered into the Facebook notes for Murphy’s Magic Mess and get all situated for the long day at KZUM – he stayed to help engineer a special musical guest for The Wimmins Show.

Saturday was the marriage of two long time KZUM listeners, particularly of the Mess. And recently Murf lost a friend who was an English professor at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Much of today’s show was in dedication to all three of those wonderful people. A bit sad at times, but also a lot of fun at others.

*K8 and the empty "Pun Jar"

*K8 and the empty “Pun Jar”

This week we celebrated *K8’s birthday, or as she put it: Birfday. She was lucky enough to attend a show at the Zoo Bar in Lincoln, show casing the Brave Combo with opening act by the Bolzen Beer Band (local to Lincoln). As has become tradition on the Mess, the birthday person gets to program the majority of the music. This week’s show was not overtly Pagan, but did feature many of *K8’s favorite songs and bands. She is a big fan of polka, having been a former host of KZUM‘s The Polka Show.

Mess Play List for 051913

Murf's Blue DragonMichelle from the Red Grail visited Murf, Kate and Phil at the studio this morning. She brought in a lovely little blue dragon statue for Murf. Would seem that the fae had been playing around with Michelle’s figurine collection and knocked the dragon shelf off. The dragon was perfectly up right, but the shelf was on the floor as at an angle. Now the little dragon is sitting at Murf’s home along with all her other dragon friends.

Mother’s Day on the Mess – 051213

ad bannerHello, my friends! Sorry for any delay in the posting of the play list from Mother’s Day. Been a rather hectic week. But it is here, finally!

As you may recall, 12 May 2013 was Mother’s Day. It was also the start of a tracking week at KZUM. So, the play list has an obvious theme and reads a little differently. The theme was Mothers and Mother Goddesses. For good reason. And as you can see by looking at the list, we included the recorded label, recording company, or the artist’s name again if it was a self=published CD. This is the first time the list has been posted in this format, we hope you might find it useful.

Any errors are mine. I would appreciate any corrections that you might catch. You can comment to this posting with those corrections.
