A week after Heartland and KailSara and RevKess were still “hung over” from all the energy and fun they had. Their show on the 1st talked about some of their experiences and the workshops they attended. A large focus was placed on Tuatha Dea, the headline musicians for the event. A fabulous concert indeed.

Early in the show they spoke briefly with Julian Marcus, the host of “Home of the Ancestors“. HotA premiers this Wednesday, the 5th of June, at 7pm PDT/9pm CDT. This program will talk about ancestral traditions from around the world. From ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt to the Celts of Europe, Asian traditions, African religions and aboriginal traditions from around the globe.

Returning to the show schedule on PMPChannel is the reboot of Musica Pagani, a Pagan and New Age music program hosted by RevKess. This program will once again feature music that is sent to us by the musicians themselves as well as the music from other artists that have granted us their permission to share their wonderful art with our listeners.

PMP: Telergy and the Legend of Goody Cole

Hello, everyone! KaliSara and RevKess are at Heartland Pagan Festival down near Kansas City at Camp Gaea. This is the first year that Heartland is on totally Pagan owned land, last fall Kansas City Heartland Spiritual Association made their final payment on the land. Congratulations to them!

Towards the end of April, RevKess sat down via Skype with Robert McClung and talked about Telergy and the Lgend of Goody Cole. This weekend’s edition is the result of that conversation.

Here at Pagan-Musings Podcast Channel we strive to have a new episode for you every Saturday evening as well as our Pagan Weekly News and the occasional other programs like Musica Pagani, Lavender Hill and Selections from the Mess. Starting on June 5th, we are adding a brand new show to the line up. Home of the Ancestors with host Julian Marcus. We will continue to produce our regular shows and keep working on adding more and more to our line up for your listening pleasure and education.

Feel free to drop us an email about this or any other show at paganmusings@gmail.com or one Facebook. (Editing note from RevKess: Please forgive the background noise. I was multitasking during the interview and my keystrokes were picked up much loader than I had expected.)

Now on to the show notes for Saturday 25 May 2013: Telergy and the Legend of Goodie Cole:GCole

PMP: Mother’s Day & Death Rites

Click to listen,

Click to listen.

Hello, listeners! Bet you are wondering how Mother’s Day and Death Rites wound up in the same show. Simple: Today is Mother’s  Day and Thursday saw the death of my tradition’s founding high priest. Now, I don’t want you to get all sympathetic or empathetic with me. I appreciate the sentiment. I’m not looking for expressions of regret or condolences on his passing. The time was oddly appropriate, though.

Some of the best recognized Mother Goddesses are also Goddesses of death and destruction and rebirth. Kali, Sekhmet, Tiamat, just to name a few. In this episode we will not only honor some of the Goddesses of Motherhood, we will also honor some of the Goddesses of Death and Rebirth. Along the way I will share some memories of my high priest, Papa Tom and some of the music that makes me think of him.

Devin Hunter & The Modern Witch

podcastbannerad3It has been two Saturdays since our last broadcast on Pagan-Musings Podcast and we wanted to explain why. April 20th found us vending at ConStellation IV in Lincoln, NE. We had intended to put together a recorded show, but it just didn’t happen. And the 27th found RevKess working his bills-paying-job and KaliSara under doctor’s orders to not talk much.

Devin Hunter

Luckily for us, and for our listeners, Devin Hunter was willing to reschedule for Tuesday the 30th. So, here we are with the show  notes for that episode of PMP.

Listen to the show.

Music Played:

  • The Mystic Dream: Devin works as the House Medium and manager of the Mystic Dream, one of the oldest metaphysical stores in the United States. He’s been there for ten years. Listen to the show for the story behind how he landed that position and what it is that he does for the store.
  • Modern Witch Podcast: Devin’s podcast, finishing up it’s fourth season, can be heard on Pagan Radio Network or in archives through Podbean.

RevKess and Devin had a wonderful chat. Bouncing around from talking about PantheaCon and Modern Witch Online to some of their similar experiencing meeting Pagans that many of us look up to. The conversation was rather smooth and we feel informative. Sometime in the near future, RevKess will be appearing on the Modern Witch to share about himself and answer some of the question that Devin has for him.

leaf and bark candlesAs we move through the Winter Holidays there is a lot of pressure for everyone to do more. Before the influx of consumerism that is Western Civilization, people would take this time of year to regroup, to reflect and to prepare.

During the show, the hosts spoke about how they are going to attempt to avoid some of the holiday madness when it comes to shopping. KaliSara mentioned browsing around on Etsy and doing other online shopping. RevKess talked about starting the holiday gift shopping as early as the December before. Both mentioned the idea of regifting.

They also spent some time talking about how some people feel that when it comes to the big holiday dinner that they have to do it all themselves and if it doesn’t turn out perfect it was a failure. This simply is not true. First, you do not have to make every single dish your self. Second, accidents happen and sometimes they make the dinner that much better.

RevKess’s family likes to do a potluck dinner for most holidays. This enables the host(s) to focus on their guests. By providing the main dish, or some central dish to the meal, the host(s) have more time to prepare their home and make things as enjoyable as possible. This also allows the guests to bring a dish or more that they feel is important to their holiday celebration. Not to mention assures that there will be at least one dish they will enjoy.

It has been some time since his family has all gotten together for a holiday feast. Being one of seven children and each of his siblings having children (and many of them grandchildren already), a full family gathering can be a logistic nightmare. But it is something that he is looking forward to doing sometime in the future.

MysteriesOfHeaven

This is also one of the times out of the year where many Pagans take a little time to ponder and reflect on what they have accomplished in the past year. The Dark of the Year begins around Samhain and continues through (at least) Yule. Those who follow the Celtic calendar have already celebrated the New Year and those who follow the secular Western calendar are preparing to do so at the end of the month. During these two months many people look back over the year and what they have done. It is a time to analyze the events and things that they have in their lives to see what has served them and what has held them back. It is time to begin laying the ground work for the coming year.

In this time of family and celebration it is also a time for us to look to our past and to our future. What have we accomplished that has lifted us forward? What have we done that has held us back? What people and things have come into our lives that bring us joy and enlightenment? What people and things have come to us that do us nothing but harm? These are questions that we must ask ourselves from time to time. During the Dark of the Year seems just as good a time as any.
