MP: African Sounds & Healing Journey

At long last, RevKess has brought back Musica Pagani. As listeners of PMPChannel well know, MP is somewhat infrequent, but RevKess does have a crazy schedule. He’s going to try his best to bring Musica Pagani to the listeners on a more regular basis.

In this 20th edition of the rebooted Musica Pagani, RevKess brought you just over an hour’s worth of new age and Pagan music. Much of it new to the channel, some a little more familiar. Check the playlist below and follow the links to learn more about the musicians.

MMM: A Weird Mess

This week on Murphy’s Magic Mess the Mama Dragon and her minions decided to take a walk on the Weird Side with their music. Starting with Walkin’ in the Woods by Elvendrums they took a path of oddness that hopefully entertained the listeners.

A special note about the third track, Madiba by Ricky Kej and Wouter Kellerman: 18 July was the birthday of the late Nelson Mandela, an inspiration to his people in South Africa and indeed to the world as a whole. Madiba was the name given to him by his people, it means Father. This track comes from the CD Winds of Samsara. Samsara is from the Sanskrit for “cycle of life” or “reincarnation”.

As a tribute to the late James Garner, actor, we played the full TV theme from The Rockford Files.

A Windy Mess – MMM 071314

Its been kind of breezy around these parts the last several days, so Murf thought it would be an awesome idea to use Wind as a theme for this weekend’s show. In the playlist below you will find a collection of mostly “windy” music. This is part of a  monthly series of shows that will address the elements. Expect us to do Fire for August, Water for September, and Earth for October.

With quite a bit of the music in the first hour or so being music that Phil has podcast permission for, you can click on the image to the left to listen to “Selections from the Mess” and hear some of what you might have missed (or enjoyed live) on Sunday 13 July 2014. With any luck, Phil will be able to do these “Selections” on a regular basis again starting with this edition and continuing on. This edition of Selections was edited and posted to the Pagan-Musings Podcast Channel on Wednesday 16 July 2014.

MMM: Independence 2014

fireworksOn Murphy’s Magic Mess we like to celebrate the holidays with music and stories. That’s just what we did this weekend for Independence Day. Murf, however, was at home with one of those miserable summer colds. *K8 and Phil managed to muddle through without her. Phil putting together the first hour, *K8 the second. As you can tell from the playlist, the show became something resembling Hindu Patriotism. Not intended, but it did come out that way.

This week is one of those special tracking weeks that we have to do at KZUM. That means that we have to track and report to SoundExchange everything we play, when we started the track and when we ended. This gives us the opportunity to play longer tracks. Sure, we could play 10-45 minute tracks every week if we wanted to, but we want to give the listener as much variety as we can every week. We’ll be doing this again in August.

A Messy End to 2013, MMM on KZUM

drunk_dragon_drunkon_by_sssilver_c-d32orug2013 is drawing to close, and has already done so here on Murphy’s Magic Mess. Sadly, *K8 was not in studio with us this morning. She was off celebrating the winter holidays with her family. But, while the *K8’s away….. Murf and Phil had a blast and infused the latter portion of the show with a great collection of songs about drinking. See the whole list of music below (and please, if you spot an error, let us know so we can fix it!).

You can find much of the music from the second half of the show for free download thanks to Pandora Celtica, SJ Tucker, Sharon Knight and dozens more wonderful musicians who got together and decided to give their fans 79 tracks of music as a holiday gift. This free download is available through Valentine’s Day 2014. We’d suggest that you download each track individually. May be time-consuming, but definitely a lot less time than it takes to download them all as a ZIP file. (Phil tried twice and both times the file came up as empty.) Here’s the download page.

MP #19: New for December 2013

At least for now, RevKess seems to be on a roll. Here’s another fun episode of Musica Pagani. This time 15 new pieces of new age music. With the exception of a two part piece, each track is a different musican or band. Most of it does come from new releases for December, but some are earlier releases just arrived or new releases that arrived for October and November of 2013.

Starting off with a wintery mix for the holiday season, moving into inspirational and then some drumming and vocals, winding down with more instrumentals and closing out with a sampling of Celtic music.

We do hope that you enjoy the combination of musics!
